Photo Shoot

The other night Joe and I attempted a photo shoot with our boys...and got some good ones!

This is one of my favorites! Both boys are looking towards the camera with happy faces!

I love the look on Judah's face in this one:"mom- what's going on? who's holding me? ummmm..."

This one is another keeper - big smiles from Ethan and a happy looking Judah:) A few seconds later little Judah slipped down from Ethan's lap (you can see it happening with Judah's arm up in the air)

I love Ethan's sneaky look on his face in this one and Judah's 'stiff-as-a-board' look....Judah's probably thinking "If I don't move maybe he'll forget I'm here...."

Over all, the photo shoot was WAY too fun and I have so many cute picture now of my two little men:) They were both such good models - and good looking models at that! I think it'll become easier once our little Judah can sit up on his own - then he won't be at the mercy of his older brother:)

Happy Pi Day!

Happy Pi day to all! Today is March, 14th - a.k.a 3.14

Back in the day, when I was going to Northwestern (majoring in math!), me and my little math buddies would go out to Bakers Square on March 14th every year and have a piece of pie to commemorate pi day:)

Just for your enjoyment here is the numerical value of pi truncated to 50 decimal places:

3.14159 26535 89793 23846 26433 83279 50288 41971 69399 37510

Yeah...I know - I'm a GEEK!

TyperShark

So, I've been noticing that my typing abilities have been slowly diminishing... probably due to the fact that I don't have many reasons to type a lot! When I do type (email, blog, google searches, etc) I've been making some simple errors that have been annoying me - time to fix that!

I remembered from years ago playing a 'typing' game to tone my typing skills for work - it's called Typer Shark from Yahoo Games...very fun and addicting and it helps you to type fast and correctly! My issue was/is I type the right letters but in the wrong order - this game MAKES you type them in the correct order and IF YOU DON'T then the shark (with the word on it that you're attempting to type) will EAT YOU!!

Now, after playing it for way too long I feel like I'm already regaining some of my pre-kid typing abilities! The key word in that statement is "some" - there will be many more hours (ha ha more like free minutes) of playing this game....

Check it out! It's a fun way to tone your typing skills: TyperShark
I play the FREE web game version offered on that link...gotta love free stuff!

A new hiding place

This morning Ethan decided it would be fun to empty out a spot in the cupboard under our vanity in the bathroom to hide in....so he did!

He had fun opening and shutting the door - we had to watch for his little fingers though - that would've ruined all the fun to have pinched fingers!

I love the picture of him peering out from the door....too cute!

Oh the things he schemes up...never a dull moment in this household! I can't wait to see what him and Judah scheme up together in a few years!!

CHOO CHOO

Yesterday, Tessa and I brought Ethan and Judah to the Twin Cities Train Museum in Bandana Square. It was so much fun! Ethan loved all the trains and could have stood there for hours watching them run by.

As the trains would pass Ethan would say "more-more-choo-choo-more-more-choo-choo" non-stop until another train came by! It was hard not to laugh - but to reassure him that more trains would be coming:)

And to make the whole deal even sweeter we were able to go for FREE! Thank you to the public library:) The Museum Adventure passes are wonderful - way to get out and explore and not become broke!

I think we will have to make a return visit to the Train Museum soon....

baby-look-a-like!

Our little Judah is now 9 weeks old and we are starting to see more and more of "baby Ethan" likeness in him! They definitely each have their own personality as a baby but their appearances are similar!

Can you tell which one is which?

*Ethan on left and Judah on right*

I just pulled out the shirt that Ethan has on in that picture for Judah to wear now!

I would say the main visual differences is that Judah's hair is more "calm" then Ethan's crazy hair! And Ethan's hair was longer from birth so he had a head start on the crazy hair-do!

They both have the melt-your-heart eyes and open-mouth-big SMILES! (I haven't been able to document Judah's smile yet....he won't cooperate!)

I must say that I have some good looking boys!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOE!

Joe's birthday was yesterday - he got Cinnabon-cinnamon rolls in the morning with coffee and a special homemade dinner in the evening (along side a 'no diaper change' day and time for him to read by himself!) I tried something new for his birthday meal and thankfully it was a big hit! Joe gave me the idea and I ran with it.

The idea was a 'purse' with cheeseburger-ish filling in it. So, I ground up my beef; sauteed the onions - for the sauce I used a mix I heard on Racheal Ray:
1 Tbs chili powder
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 Cup yellow mustard
1/4 Cup ketchup
1 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
*(RR had 1 C beef stock in there but I had none so I omitted it - plus I didn't want it to be runny)
I added this sauce to the meat and onions and let it all cool.

Then I took crescent roll dough; sealed the 'seams'; and cut the dough into squares. Into the dough squares I put about a Tbs or so of meat mix with some shredded cheese on top and brought the edges in to form my 'purse'. Throw an egg wash on top and it's ready for the oven! I was a little nervous on how they'd turn our because I wasn't really following a recipe (besides for the sauce!)

16 minutes later...ta-da! Out came these beautiful little browned purses that were pefectly light and flakey! woot-woot! I was so excited that they worked:) And they smelled good to top it off. Everything for the meal was done: beef purses, cheesy mashed potatoes, and fruit salad....now all that was left was for the birthday boy to try it out......

...AND HE LOVED IT! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVE!

...and for dessert I made this yummy cherry-cheesecake-deal I found online! Very simple and oh-so-good!

Recipe:
1-8 oz softened cream cheese
1/2 C. Sugar
2 C. Cool Whip, thawed
1 can cherry pie filling
Crust:
16 graham crackers, crushed
1/3 C. butter, melted
1/4 C. sugar

Mix crust ingredients and press into pie pan or 8x8 pan; bake 10-15 min at 350

Beat together cream cheese and sugar. Blend in cool whip. Pour into cooled crust. Spread cherry pie filling over the top. Chill at least 3 hours. ENJOY!

I'm not the best-chef there is but I do enjoy cooking! It was fun to be creative and 'make-up' the main course and actually have it turn out;) AND it for my wonderful husband on his birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOE!
