Success!

We just returned from our first boat trip of the season! It was so much fun; the boys did amazing! The 4+hour drive up and back went great; the 4 days and 3 nights on the boat were filled with fun times; and lots of sunshine!

More details and pictures to come later....time to unpack and do laundry:) Welcome home!

*I was joking that if we stayed up there a week the boys would maybe sleep in till 7:30 or so....

1st morning: 5:15 wake up
2nd morning: 5:45 wake up
3rd morning: 6:00 wake up

10 on Tuesday

So, I found this neat concept from a fellow blogger in a MOMS group I'm in. I don't know her personally, but I LOVE the idea of '10 on Tuesday' - it's 10 things (can be unrelated and random) you post on Tuesday, can be long or short, silly or serious, whatever!

Please join me every Tuesday to hear 10 things from my life!

1. I really like my dark hair; normally I do light in the summer and dark in the winter; I'm loving my dark hair in the spring/summer.

2. Ethan's exploring all the video's at the library: his newest choice: "Dora the Explorer"; last weeks choice: "Fireman Sam"; "Bob the Builder" is an all time favorite too.

3. Judah loves to go potty like Ethan does on the toilet. He's no where near being ready to potty train but he loves to sit on the toilet and 50% of the time something comes out - along with lots of smiles and cheers!

4. Joe will be done with school by next Christmas! The end is in sight!

5. While eating a picnic lunch the other day Ethan proclaimed "Mommy, this is the best picnic EVER!" how cute.

6. Judah has started really acting like a toddler (which he is)...newest development: tantrums. Face down, on the floor, tantrums. Wonderful:) I just have to laugh (sometimes)

7. I am loving thrift stores recently; can't beat like-new shirts for $3!

8. Ethan and Judah both love KidsStuff at the YMCA - which is great! They are excited to go play while I go workout - love it!

9. All of us love this warm weather; last night we had a picnic dinner in our front yard!

10. Joe and I want to rearrange and paint our living room; the creative wheels are rolling - don't know when it'll happen but at least they're rolling!

Hope you all enjoyed my first "10 on Tuesday"...please come again!

100th post and a smart kiddo

As I went to create this post I saw that this is my 100th post! woo hoo for me!

Here's a cute story from this afternoon.....
*Background: I had given Ethan 3 Hershey's Kisses and he was sitting on the couch eating them while I was cleaning the kitchen*

Ethan: Mommy I have 3 kisses

Me: Yep you do!

Ethan: Mommy, when I eat one kiss I only have 2 kisses left!

Me: Yes - you're right!

Ethan then eats one kiss

Ethan: Hey Mommy, when I eat one more kiss I only have 1 kiss left!

Me: (becoming more and more impressed) Yes! You're right - good job!

Ethan then eats another kiss

Ethan: Mommy, when I eat this last kiss I will have no more kisses, all gone!

Me: Wow! You're right:)

Ethan eats the last kiss and they are indeed all gone! He successfully (and enthusiastically to boot) told me 3-1=2; 2-1=1; and 1-1=0!

In general I think that's pretty smart for an almost 3 year old - and since I'm a math girl hearing my little guy tell me math, and be excited about it, and get it correct makes me SMILE! Thanks Ethan:)

BOWLING!

For Heather and Chris' rehearsal dinner (see previous if you're wondering who Heather and Chris are...) they were non-traditional - which I love! Instead of a dressy, formal dinner with toasts and all we went BOWLING! Seriously, how cool is that? We did our rehearsal for the ceremony (I was a bridesmaid) and then went over to PINZ (bowling alley in Lake Elmo) where Chris' parents rented out a private, 10-lane party room! They covered food, shoes and all the bowling. Joe, Ethan and Judah were able to come and Mr. Ethan got to bowl for the first time.....HE LOVED IT!

They even had those spiffy bowling shoes in Ethan's size....how cute:)
We were able to get one of those ramp deals so Ethan didn't have to try and roll the ball...sweet.
He was really into it!

We played our game with a bunch of other people....Ethan had a real-life test of his patience! He did unusually well considering he's 2 and it was well past his bedtime:) Way to go bud!

Me and Ethan showing off our sweet bowling shoes...and some food in Ethan's mouth. ew.
All my boys at the bowling alley...Joe, Judah and Ethan! Joe won the best-husband-ever award for watching both boys during the rehearsal (which was over 1.5 hours by the way), getting us food at the bowling alley, watching/chasing Judah while I bowled with Ethan and smiling through it all! I LOVE YOU JOE! you rock. seriously. :)

In the Ceiling?

The other day I was talking to Ethan and using my hands to explain things (surprise surprise! Can I ever talk without moving my hands?) Anyways, I was talking to Ethan about God and when I said 'God' I pointed up to the sky - common right? Well, I continued on with my discussion with Ethan when he interrupted me....

Ethan: "Does God live in the ceiling?"

Me: "No...God is everywhere"

Ethan: "But Mommy, you pointed at the ceiling when you said "God" so God must live in the ceiling"

Me: "Oh I see...I just pointed up there because Heaven's up there"

Ethan: "In the ceiling?"

Me: "well...past the ceiling...way up in the sky"

Ethan: "ok"

Me: "God is everywhere - He's with you and me and daddy...."

Ethan took this knowledge and went on with his day.

Then the next day he was chatting with Grandma Julie and the idea of God living in the ceiling came up again. Grandma Julie (my mom) had heard about the 'ceiling' conversation so she knew what he was talking about when he told her that God lived in the ceiling. She reminded him that God is everywhere - and started listing off all the places that God is and Ethan interrupted her and said..

Ethan: "God's with Mickey Mouse too!"

Now we're trying to explain that Mickey Mouse isn't real....
Smart kid I say!

Busy Busy

Wow... we have been busy! I'm hoping life will slow down a tad in the next few weeks so I can catch my breath:)

Here's a quick view at what we've been up to:

Joe started his new job (yeah!)
I got a part-time job (teaching math in the evening)
I'm a bridesmaid in my good-friend's wedding this weekend
Ethan and Judah are growing up and crazy as ever!

I hope to load some pictures and sit down to record some fun stories from the boys soon....when I have time....hopefully that will be soon!

Until then...
